You’re allowed to ask.

If you found your way here, something probably brought you.

Maybe you’ve been sitting in a pew your whole life and something recently stopped feeling right. Maybe you left the church and you’re grieving something you can’t quite name. Maybe you still love Jesus but you’re not sure you love what’s being done in his name. Maybe you’re just asking questions and you’re not sure where to ask them.

This is a place for all of that.

My name is Ashley. I grew up in rural Missouri in a Christian home — church every Sunday, small groups, my dad was a leader. I prayed the prayer at five years old in my dad’s beat-up brown Chevy pickup. I went to college and got plugged into campus ministry right away.

And then I started asking questions I didn’t know how to ask.

Why is the Old Testament God so different from the New Testament one? What makes Christianity more credible than any other faith system? How can a loving God allow suffering? If I’ve believed this my whole life, what part of that is actually mine?

I wrestled with those questions alone for a long time. Mostly because I was ashamed to have them.

What I’ve found is that the questions aren’t the problem. Staying stagnant is.

So that’s what this space is. Letters — written directly to my fellow Christians — that challenge us to look honestly at what we believe, where those beliefs actually come from, and whether they look anything like Jesus. I don’t have it figured out. I’m not writing from the other side of anything. I’m writing from the middle of it, same as you.

I ask questions a lot of Christians aren’t comfortable asking. I don’t fit neatly into any camp. But Scripture still matters to me deeply — not as a weapon, but as a living thing worth taking seriously.

If that sounds like your kind of place, I’m glad you’re here.

A few letters to start with:

If you’re questioning from inside the church → [Big C Church] and [There’s Not One Way to Be a Christian]

If you’ve been hurt by the church → [Stop Going to Church] and [God Loves You Unless…]

If you’re struggling and need to know you’re not alone → [How Are You Really]

New letters go out a couple times a month. [Subscribe here] if you want them in your inbox.

With love,

Ashley
