New Year, Same Me

Dear Christian,

It’s that time of year again. Where everyone thinks and talks about New Years resolutions. Even though, if we were really honest with ourselves, most of us won’t follow through.

I’m so happy for people who keep their resolutions. That’s awesome for you. I’m so happy to watch you improve yourself and strive to do/be better.

But what about those of us that can’t/don’t keep our resolutions? Do you ever set a goal, only to fail and find yourself in a worse place than when you started? WE are our own worst critics that way.

This year, I’m not going to try to change in to someone I’m not. Instead, I want to focus on doing just a bit better than yesterday. Be kinder – with others, and with myself. More patient. Forgive quicker. Find opportunities for generosity.

While setting measurable goals makes it easier to determine if you were successful or not, giving flexibility is important too. We aren’t perfect. Don’t expect it of yourself. But do, keep pushing yourself to be better.

Here’s to 2022.

Love,
Ashley
